Presentations of ADAPTED members at ECPR General Conference 2022

Ahmed El Assal (ESR 13), Petronilla Wandeto (ESR 14) Guido Maschhaupt (ESR 15), and  Eszter Szedlacsek (ESR 8) attended the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) General Conference from 22 to 26 August, which took place at the University of Innsbruck this year. Ahmed, Petronilla and Guido joined hundreds of political science scholars from accross the world for an in-presence event in Innsbruck, Austria, and presented their draft papers in three different panels.

Ahmed presented his draft paper "shrinking civic spaces: the skewing role of civil society organizations and the state in promoting youth political participation in Egypt" in the panel on "public policy and the Global South."

In the panel "democratic innovations", Petronilla presented the draft paper "exploring donor trade-offs in semi-authoritarian regimes: political consequences of cash assistance programs in Egypt, Ethiopia and Uganda" which is a joint paper of the three ESRs.

Guido presented his draft paper "reform coalitions in neopatrimonial states: case studies into policy conflict in democratic low-income countries" in the panel "Institutions and policy conflict."

Eszter delivered a presentation "Climate-poverty nexus in Sub-Saharan Africa: the transformative potential of governing SDG interlinkages, synergies and trade-offs" at at the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) General Conference at the University of Innsbruck on 24 August 2022 as part of the panel "Transformative governance for the Sustainable Development Goals". In the same panel, a paper "Transformative Partnerships for Sustainable Development: Towards a Common Conceptual Understanding" co-authored by Eszter's supervisor Philipp Pattberg and other members of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam has been presented.
