Guido Maschhaupt (ESR 15) successfully defended his PhD thesis titled "Rivaling Social Protections: The interacting politics of agricultural input subsidies and social cash transfers in Malawi and Zambia" on September 18, 2026, at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague. He has been awarded the degree of a Philosophiae Doctor (Ph.D.) from Erasmus University Rotterdam and Boğaziçi University, Türkiye.
Guido's PhD project was jointly supervised by Prof. Wil Hout (ISS) and Prof. Mine Eder (Boğaziçi University). Both supervisors were present at the PhD defense and the Examination Committee consisted of Prof. M. Chasukwa (University of Malawi), Dr. M. Sandvad Ulriksen (University of Southern Denmark), Prof. Fikret Adaman (Boğaziçi University) and Prof. Andrew Fischer (ISS). The committee was chaired by Prof. Ruard Ganzevoort (ISS).
