European Joint Doctorate
Within ADAPTED, a European Joint Doctorate is granted to the 15 ADAPTED Early Stage Researchers based on individual cotutelle agreements between the involved academic beneficiaries, which foresees a stay of 6 months at the beneficiary organisation, which awards the joint degree together with the recruiting beneficiary, where the ESR is hosted during most of the time. Due to the complementary composition of each supervisory team, this arrangement guarantees that each individual ESR receives multidisciplinary impulses from her/his academic supervisors when working on the individual research project.
Framework agreement for future European joint PhD degrees
Beyond the requirements for European Joint Doctorates, ADAPTED partners agreed on a European Joint Doctorates framework agreement, which shall facilitate entering into joint doctoral degrees after the end of the project. The agreement provides a common template for joint doctoral degrees developed by ADAPTED. It reflects the experience of the ADAPTED project and is intended as a manual to facilitate future joint PhD agreements. It shows a high degree of consistency in the arrangements for a joint doctorate between the ADAPTED partners but also allows for adaptations to different national or university regulations. In its current form, it is suitable for facilitating future joint degree agreements between the ADAPTED partners but may also serve as a guide for other European universities, highlighting potential points of discussion and appropriate solutions when concluding joint degree agreements.
