Hélène Djoufelkit

Hélène Djoufelkit is the Director of the Economic Assessment and Public Policy Department within the Innovation, Research and Knowledge Executive Direction. The department undertakes research on global issues such as low carbon transition, social cohesion, macroeconomic trajectories, and governance issues.

She has begun her AFD career in 2004 at the research department working mainly on innovative development financing instruments, and on the link between economic rents and growth in Egypt, Algeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2008 she was appointed as Senior Advisor to the Executive Director for France at the IMF and the World Bank, in charge of African issues. From 2012, she has spent four years as Deputy Country Director of AFD Office in Egypt. She went back in Paris in 2016 as head of the Corporate Strategy and Accountability Unit.

She holds a Ph.D in development economics from the Centre d’études et de recherches sur le développement international (CERDI).
